Mission: The mission of the Culture Coalition is to draw on southern Rhode Island's rich and diverse culture assets in order to create a strong identity and establish the arts and history as highly visible elements of the region's identity

Goals: To build a strong, vibrant Culture Coalition that contributes to the success of its member organizations and provides valuable resources and networking opportunities. To develop and promote artistic and historical events that enhance cultural tourism and education in Rhode Island.

-- South County Museum The South County Museum is closed until spring, but it is co-sponsoring a series of talks at Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, 35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett. (See January 29th.)

-- Courthouse Center No events or performances are scheduled for January, but the hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 10 am - 4 pm.

4 The Narragansett Towers Ballroom Dancing at the Towers every Wednesday -- 6:00-6:45 Salsa; 6:45-7:00 practice; 7:00-7:45 West Coast Swing; 7:45-8:00 practice; 8:00-9:00 Beginner Argentine Tango 9:00-10:30 Argentine Tango practice. Fees: $15 6:00-8:00 with Sara Barker; $15 8:00-10:30 with Sue Davis. $5 for 9:00-10:30 "practice only" -- or $22 for the entire evening 6:00-10:30. (January dance dates are the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th)
29 South County Museum "Narrow River: Past and Present" at Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, 35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett.The South County Museum is co-sponsoring (along with The Narrow River Preservation Association and Friends of Canonchet Farm) a Pettaquamscutt lecture series. Today's presentation is "Narrow River: Past and Present" -- Explore the Narrow River without getting wet or cold as NRPA board member Veronica Berounsky takes you on a tour of the Narrow River and sites in its watershed and discusses important issues that are illustrated along the way. Time: 1 p.m.
